No one likes to have to sit around for hours as their computer scans for virus or spyware, but you know you need to do it in order for your computer to work properly. Just as with scanning your computer, you need to make sure you, check often for new computer updates.
Usually the manufacture of your computer will give you the option automatically to update your computer. Take this easy step. Updates are important for your computer because hackers are only getting craftier and it is important to protect your computer. Updates are also important to fix bugs in the operating system and to add updated features do your computer. If you have a Windows computer, most likely your computer should update automatically. It should ask if you want to update or it will do so when you shut down your computer. Your computer system will determine where you go to update the information. You want your computer to update on its own on a regular basic. For a Windows Vista computer, right on My Computer, click Properties, click Windows Update, click Changes Settings, click Install Updates Automatically, and click Ok. For a Windows XP computer, go into the Start menu, right click on My Computer, click Properties this will bring up a Systems Properties window, click the tab labeled Automatic Updates, select Automatic and choose a time, and click OK. For a Mac OS X computer, click Apple, Systems Preferences, click Software Updates, click Check for updates, and choose daily. If you need to go online to download the latest update, make sure you go straight to the manufacture’s website. Be careful what you click on especially if you Google for new updates. It is important to protect your computer and if you do not trust a site, do not click on updates from it. |
