It should ask if you want to update or it will do so when you shut down your computer.

For a Windows Vista computer, right on My Computer, click Properties, click Windows Update, click Changes Settings, click Install Updates Automatically, and click Ok. For a Windows XP computer, go into the Start menu, right click on My Computer, click Properties this will bring up a Systems Properties window, click the tab labeled Automatic Updates, select Automatic and choose a time, and click OK. For a Mac OS X computer, click Apple, Systems Preferences, click Software Updates, click Check for updates, and choose daily.

If you need to go online to download the latest update, make sure you go straight to the manufacture’s website. Be careful what you click on especially if you Google for new updates. It is important to protect your computer and if you do not trust a site, do not click on updates from it.
