Educational software can be used by teachers and parents to introduce new concepts and skills, as well as reinforce material already learned. Quarter Mile Math programs are designed to boost math skills for kids in grades K-9. The software encourages children to solve math problems at a their own pace. This increases confidence and math ability. Topics range from counting for kindergarteners, to pre-algebra for middle and high school students. Because students can work at their own pace, Quarter Mile Math is ideal for helping students that are below grade level in math, to improve their math skills.

FlexiMusic Kids Composer is a software program that introduces kids to composing and producing music. The interface features big buttons that are easy for kids to find and click on, and users can create songs that they can then e-mail to friends and family. FlexiMusic features more than 200 instrument sounds including guitar, drums and piano. When kids record audio in FlexiMusic, they can use the program’s editor function to delete unwanted portions of their vocals. A tempo control can be used to make a song faster or slower.

Muzzy is an online language program for children. It can be used by kids of all ages, from toddlers to teens. The program capitalizes on a youngster’s natural ability to pick up a new language. It uses a natural immersion approach to surround a child with the sounds of a new language. Repetition is used as an important tool to learning new vocabulary and mastering grammar rules. Children can learn languages including Spanish, Russian, German and (Mandarin) Chinese.
