The main purpose of a computer is to perform repetitive task with speed and almost zero error. But computer by itself cannot perform these functions and it needs the intervention of human brain to make it function. The usage of human brain to pass instructions to the computer to perform certain task is what is called software. Software is nothing but a series of instructions given to the computer to perform certain pre-designated task in a language which the computer can understand. So computer as a single entity is nothing but a bunch of hardware clubbed together. For it wake up and perform activities to the desired level it is necessary to have a good software.
The software industry is one the biggest industry today and it employs millions of people across the world. Coming to the internet, this great invention in conjunction with computer has changed the way we approach our day to day life. Lot of software is written for clients sitting thousands of miles across and the same is tested, retested, run and installed onto the clients system. All this would not have been possible without internet.
However the growth of computers, hardware and software are not without their own problems. Along with the growth of software came another man made menace known as virus. Unfortunately, these viruses are nothing but man made programs written to damage the very computer which they use to write such programs. How ironical it is!!
