Nook Color vs. iPad – Which one To Buy

Are you trying to decide which new device to you want to buy? Two of the biggest competitors right now are the Nook Color and the iPad. There are a lot of good features with both devices. The things that will make the biggest difference on which device is right for you will probably be price and what you plan to use the device to do. Here are some comparisons of features on the Nook Color and the iPad.

  1. Price: The iPad costs between $499 to $829. The prices of an iPad vary depending on the size of the hard drive and whether or not it has 3G connectivity. The price of the Nook Color is $249.
  2. Connectivity: The iPad has wi-fi on all devices. For a higher price you can also get 3G connectivity on the iPad. The Nook Color offers only wi-fi.
  3. Memory: The iPad offers devices with either 16, 32, or 64 GB of memory. The larger the memory, the higher the price. The Nook Color has 8 GB of memory in the unit. You may also expand the memory of a Nook Color with a memory card (up to 32 GB).
  4. Screen size: The size of the screen on the iPad is 9.56” by 7.47”. The screen on the Nook Color is 8.1” by 5”.

Both devices have about the same battery capacity (runs for about eight hours) and have the same technology for their screens. Both devices can also surf the web, read e-books, play videos, and play music. The big difference is that you can add additional apps to the iPad, at this time you can’t on the Nook Color (without rooting it). The choice is yours.
